Beautiful Botanical Marquee Wedding in Wales | Wedding Photography by The Mays

Botanical marquee wedding in Wales – full of wild florals, real emotion, and that relaxed “weekend away” feeling – is exactly our kind of day. We’re Marta May Photography – also known as The Mays (Marta + Artur), a husband and wife team based in Hereford, Herefordshire, right on the doorstep of Wales. Our DOCU-ART style blends honest documentary moments (the laughs, the happy tears, the chaos) with cinematic portraits that still feel natural and completely you.

Quick Answer

If you’re planning a marquee wedding in Wales, a botanical style works beautifully because it feels relaxed, modern, and full of personality – especially in natural light. This day had everything we love: meaningful details, big family energy, and a celebration that didn’t feel staged for the camera.

Get married in the Welsh countryside

There seems to be something very special about the Welsh countryside. Something that makes so many couples from different parts of the world come here to get married. What is it? Beautiful backdrops that always remind me of the Shire from the Lord of the Rings? Great and unusual venues? But I know we love photographing weddings here and recently we had a pleasure of photographing another Scottish English wedding day in Wales.

A stunning Botanical Marquee Wedding

Botanical weddings seem to be more and more popular – no more typical roses, just wild flowers and a lot of foliage. This is an amazing trend and it looks stunning! I have written a short blog post about botanical trend here: Trending – Beautiful Botanical Weddings. We love photographing botanical weddings!

Scottish English wedding day in Wales

Our bride and groom’s wedding day was just perfect and such a pleasure to photograph. This weather and the bride’s dress is just a dream, isn’t it? The groom wore his uniform and then he changed into his traditional Scottish outfit. The marquee was beautifully decorated and there was a free bar too! On top of that – tasty food and also each table had a bottle of a real Scottish whisky! How cool is that?

Emotional Scottish English wedding day

This Scottish English wedding day was also very emotional – love and happiness was so visible – in everybody’s eyes. I love photographing those weddings where you can see the pure love not only between the couple but also within the whole family.

Kind words

Here’s what Nicky + Mal shared after their wedding – thank you so much, you two.

“Marta is a beautiful person and that is constantly reflected in her service and her photographs. She has a unique ability to find beauty in all people, places and surroundings. We loved having Marta at our wedding and she did an incredible job of capturing all aspects of the day in a non-intrusive and informal way. Throughout our planning her enthusiasm was amazing and she always had time to share ideas on our joint pinterest board or answer any of my daft questions. She is simply amazing!”

P.S. You might recognise us as The Mays from TWIA – we were TWIA National Winners in 2023 and we’re now TWIA judges.
