Photography challenge

Wedding photographers

Hello! We are wedding photographers based in Hereford, UK. Wedding photography, if you think about it, practically uses all various genres of photography. Portrait, landscape, night, fashion, architecture, event, fine art, photojournalism or even aerial photography, if the photographer owns a drone. So it is really important to improve skills not only in wedding photography but also in all the other photography genres. That’s why this year I’m setting myself a photography challenge.

12 months of photography challenge

It’s always good to plan your photography challenge. Many people do 365 day challenges but that doesn’t work for me because of a busy life as a parent. Monthly challenges are much more realistic for me personally.

What is my first month about?

Portrait: Self portrait and a Headshot

Self portraits are so much fun! Headshots are great too, get creative with them!

Landscape: Traditional landscape

This is one of my favourite challenges because it means being out and about with my camera!

Artistic: Red

What a great challenge and such a magical colour! Very noticeable. So instead of planning, we went outside… and it was there, so easy to find… No wonder the Post Office uses it!

Story: Rule of Thirds and Mirror

I try to use the rule of thirds in many photos, even in portraits. Mirrors are amazing too – and you can find them everywhere. Just look at your bathroom and your iphone. Even a puddle can work as a mirror.

Artistic: Land – land, landscape, rule of thirds…

Learn Learn Learn

Get involved and create your own photography challenge! I will come back to my challenge soon. Meanwhile I’ve decided to focus on a wedding photography training. There is always something to improve and if we don’t learn, we won’t be better photographers. How about learning how to record videos too? They look great and are so much fun to create too, here’s the example, recorded at Hay Bluff, what do you think?
