Tretower Court and Castle wedding photography is the best kind of time-travel – historic stone, big emotion, and that Wales countryside calm that makes everything feel more meaningful. We’re Marta May Photography – also known as The Mays (Marta + Artur), a husband and wife team based in Hereford, Herefordshire, right on the doorstep of Wales. We photograph weddings in our DOCU-ART style: honest documentary moments (the laughs, the happy tears, the chaos) blended with cinematic portraits that still feel natural and completely you.

Unique Glasbury weddings
Our bride Kim and groom Will got married in Tretower Court and Castle. And then, as Glasbury wedding photographers we photographed their amazing reception. We love Wales! This wedding was unusual and so beautiful. I wanted to photograph it as soon as Kim contacted me and told me about her plans.
Photo + timeline tips for a Tretower Court wedding (quick wins)
- Give yourselves 5 minutes after the ceremony.
Not for “photos” – for real life. Hugs, happy tears, that first proper breath, and the moment you look at each other and go, oh my god, we’re married. Those are the frames you’ll feel forever.
- If you’re moving locations (ceremony → tipis / reception), build in a buffer.
The day stays calm when you’re not chasing the clock. Add a little breathing space for travel, guest drift, and those spontaneous moments that always happen in between.
- Keep group photos tight and easy.
A short list (around 8–10 groups) means you get the family photos you want without turning your drinks reception into a queue. Quick, fun, done, back to the party.
- Sneak out for golden hour for 8–10 minutes.
This venue and this landscape are made for it. You don’t need a long photoshoot, just a short wander, a few natural prompts, and you’re back with your favourite humans while they’re still topping up their Prosecco.

Beautiful details – inspiration
Just look at the bride’s bouquet and all the decorations – both in the ceremony room and in the tipis. The bride made it all herself and everything just looked amazing. We love when brides are so creative and this girl certainly was. Her dress had pockets and colourful buttons at the back, her hair looked amazing! I also loved her make-up – her beautiful red lips were just perfect!

Tretower Court and Castle – unusual wedding venue
Tretower court is a medieval fortified manor house near Crickhowell in Wales. A stunning place and the ceremony just looked beautiful. The couple also had a small reception in the gardens afterwards. Then we all travelled to Glasbury only to be welcomed by the giant tipis.
Creative bride – Glasbury wedding photographers
All the decorations were made by our stunning bride! She is a very busy business woman and time is probably one of the things she needs most. However, her effort really paid off. Beautiful day, lovely people and the atmosphere was so warm and welcoming. Even the rain didn’t spoil everybody’s good moods.
