How to look less awkward in your wedding photos

HOW CAN I FEEL MORE CONFIDENT IN MY WEDDING PHOTOS?

Almost every couple we work with tells us that they are worried about looking and feeling awkward in their wedding photos.

But hey, we’re not here to turn your wedding into a fancy fashion shoot, no way! Weddings are all about happiness, chill vibes, and oodles of love and laughter, my friend! Sure, we’ll snap a few portraits, but fear not, because we’ve got some awesome tricks up our sleeves that will boost your confidence and make you giggle like a kid in a candy store!

That’s why we’ve thrown in a free engagement shoot to our full day package (the one with Two Mays), because we totally get how much this little adventure can improve the experience for our lovebirds. And hey, here are a couple of simple tricks to help you avoid those cringey moments in your wedding snapshots. (wedding photos taken at Dewsall Court):

Here’s what Vicky & Mark (on the photo above) said about their experience after getting their wedding pictures:

“Oh Marta and Artur, I don’t even know where to start. We didn’t even think we wanted photographers, but god, how very wrong we would have been not to have had you at our wedding. We looked through our photos last night and it brought back every moment and feeling of our day.

You both have a spectacular ability to capture a feeling in a shot and we honestly could not be happier with our photos. There is not one photo I want to hide because you have just documented every emotion of the day so well, and in a way that is not at all staged or stiff. We cannot thank you enough for your kindness, attitude, professionalism and above all – your skill and talent. You guys are just THE BEST!!” – Vicky and Mark

So here are our 5 TOP TIPS on looking and feeling good in your wedding pictures.

1. We all stress ourselves out way too much, constantly overthinking and worrying about being caught on camera. And that’s exactly why we end up looking like awkward turtles! Instead, let’s shift our focus to something way more fun, like imagining our all-time favorite meal or daydreaming about that dreamy vacation spot. Trust me, it’s a guaranteed way to instantly look less awkward! During the shoot we always chat with our couples about fun stuff anyway!

2. Keep your hands jazzed up. We express ourselves with our hands and faces, and if we feel like a fish out of water, our hands will flop around like a confused octopus. So let’s keep those hands busy – stuff ’em in your pockets, clutch a bouquet like a pro, or hold hands with someone special. Use those hands to distract yourself and boost your confidence! We’ve got a treasure chest full of practical tips and tricks to keep your hands and minds busy as bees.

3. Get your geometry on! Have you ever noticed how those school group photos always look a bit wonky? Well, that’s because standing straight and boring in front of the camera is just so passé. It’s time to get those angles in and make things interesting! So go ahead, strike a pose, and let’s have some fun with shapes. Oh, and don’t worry, we’ll guide you through it during the shoot. Let’s get this angle party started!

4. So, picture this: you and your photographer become best buds, like peas in a pod. And then, you get some serious practice in front of the camera with a pre-wedding shoot. Trust me, folks, this is the secret sauce to a stress-free wedding day. Seriously, no kidding! It’s like magic, I tell ya!

5. You know who’s the biggest critic in your life? You! But enough with the negativity, my friend. Let’s shift our focus to the things you actually love about yourself! Ever read the High 5 Habit by Mel Robbins? It’s awesome!

Let’s have fun together! Your wedding pictures will feel amazing!

A pair of friendly ninjas…

The last thing we want is for you to be taken out of the joy and love and hilarity and all-of-the-feels of your wedding day to stand awkwardly up against a tree with a giant camera shoved in your face. This is not our bag at all. We don’t force poses. We don’t direct and cajole and make you say cheese (shudder).

Instead, we take time getting to know you before the big day. We learn about what’s important to you when it comes to your relationship with each other, and who the special people are who will be there celebrating with you. That way, on the day, we can just… hang out, like friends.

Friends with cameras who just happen to be a little bit awesome at capturing the important stuff, the emotional stuff, and the gorgeous moments in between.
