Hellens Manor wedding photography is something else – it’s the kind of place that feels like stepping into a story. Think historic character, wild gardens, and that calm Herefordshire countryside atmosphere that makes everything feel a little more magical.
This post is a real wedding story we photographed at Hellens Manor in our DOCU-ART style: candid documentary moments first, then relaxed cinematic portraits (no stiff posing, no awkward vibes). You’ll see how the day flowed from a church ceremony at St Bartholomew’s in Much Marcle, through reception drinks in the grounds, to the wedding breakfast and speeches in the Great Barn – and then straight into the party.
About the venue
Set in Much Marcle, the rural landscape of Herefordshire Hellens Manor is a much-loved Tudor home with an incredible tapestry of stories, characters, art, furniture, grounds and gardens. This beautiful historic house is a living monument to much of England’s history. Attractions include heirlooms of Anne Boleyn, the haunted bed chamber prepared for Queen Mary Tudor and many more. If you’re a fan of British history, Hellens Manor might be the perfect venue for you!

Real wedding snapshot
Venue: Hellens Manor, Much Marcle, Herefordshire
Ceremony: St Bartholomew’s Church (Much Marcle)
Reception: drinks in the grounds + wedding breakfast in the Great Barn
Season/vibe: Relaxed summer garden party
Standout moments: The confetti in the blue hour was gorgeous!
Church ceremony
Obviously you can get married at the venue, but you can also have a church ceremony in a nearby church – St Bartholomew’s church in Much Marcle and our couple chose to do that. The church is only a few minutes away and it’s a lovely old building with an excellent acoustic.

Reception drinks
After the ceremony everybody made their way to Hellens Manor for some canapes and reception drinks. There is so much you can do – you can relax in the gardens or head to the labyrinth for some peace and quiet. Alternatively, take some photos with your wedding guests outside in the gardens before you all head off to enjoy the wedding breakfast.

Group pictures
Everywhere you go the scenery is just so stunning, so your Hellens Manor wedding photography will look amazing. You can hide in the shade if it’s sunny. With a cloudy weather you have even more options. We decided to use the beautiful meadow as a backdrop too!

The wedding breakfast and the speeches
After the canapes it was time for the wedding breakfast and the speeches so we all moved to the Great Barn. There is plenty of room for up to 100 guests in Hellens Manor’s Great Barn. The Barn looks stunning with its beams and vaulted ceiling, such a pleasure to photograph!

The couple shoot – Hellens Manor wedding photography
Hellens Manor wedding photography is truly gorgeous because of the variety of breathtaking views. The fields, meadows, gardens, the maize, the barns and the house all provide stunning backdrops for your couple pictures. Here are some examples of what we’ve managed to create that day.

The evening party!
This is one of our favourite parts of the day – all the formalities are done and you can just completely relax. Our groom grabbed a microphone and sang a few songs. The band was amazing and everybody had the best time!
